Apprenticeship and Trades
Video: Apprenticeship in Saskatchewan
In Saskatchewan, there are two options for apprenticeship training:
Option 1) apprenticeship which consists of working with an employer first and then going back to school
Option 2) pre-employment which consists of the individual going to school first and then seeking employment
SIAST and Regional Colleges offer pre-employment programming for training in the trades.
Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission:
This site is the best place to go to learn more about the trades and to understand the process that all apprentices will go through depending on their trade here in Saskatchewan. Check out the list of all designated trades in Saskatchewan.
Go to Programs & Courses and then click on the program of interest. There will be information on the courses, overview of the program and much more. If is very important to remember that for the majority of these programs admission is based on FIRST QUALIFIED, FIRST ADMITTED so apply early!
Select a college and then research the programs and courses.
