University of Alberta Academic Excellence Scholarship

No application is required! If you have a final admission average of 85% or higher, and are planning to enter the U of A in Seotember 2013, you are guaranteed to receive $1,000 or more. Community Futures Scholarship

“How to Improve Your Community Competition” is open to Grade 12 students. Interested students are to create a written plan for a community development iniative. The winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship. The competition runs from September 15th until November 30th, 2012. Loran Award

The Loran Award seeks to recognize students who demonstrate character, leadership a strong commitment and service to the community. Up to thirty Loran Awards are available at up to $80,000. Rotary Youth Leadership Camp

The Rotary Club of Prince Albert invites applications for students to attend an all-expenses-paid camp which focuses on leadership and has a lot of recreational activities. The deadline to apply is May 30th. Contact Mrs. McLeod for more details.

Encounters With Canada

Encounters With Canada is a leadership program that brings high school students from across Canada together for a one-week stay in Ottawa. Youth who attend take part in many activities, such as touring the parliament buildings and meeting new people. Application deadline is May 31st. Contact Mrs. McLeod for more details.

Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship: Automatic Acceptance

Every Saskatchewan Grade 12 graduate who enrols in a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution will have up to $500 per year, to a maximum of $2000, reduced from the tuition. Students who begin their studies on or after August 1, 2012 will not need to apply for this scholarship, as their post-secondary institution will apply on their behalf. U of S Academic Advisor

Grade 12 students who have registered to attend the U of S this fall will have the opportunity to meet with a U of S Academic Advisor on Monday, May 28th. He will be at SMHS from 9:00 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. The advisor will assist with course selection and answer questions. To meet with the advisor, students must sign up with Mrs. McLeod in Student Services before Wednesday, May 23rd.

U of S Medicine Presentation

First-Year Medicine Students will be presenting at SMHS in the Chapel on Wednesday, May 23rd during Period 4. Grade 11 and Grade 12 students are invited to attend to get a personal account about being in medical school and what they can do to work towards being accepted. A pink “Out-Of-Class” form may be picked up at Student Services.

Lethbridge College: School of Justice Studies
