Affinity Credit Union: Elwood Harvey Co-operative Leadership (Gr 11)

Grade 11 students who are a member of Affinity Credit Union or have a parent or guardian who is a member are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Each student receives a $2500 award upon completion of the leadership program. Twenty-six students are accepted into the program. This award is offered by our District Councils, who have been elected to represent their communities within the Credit Union. The program gives recipients the opportunity to participate in their local District Council meetings and a variety of other events during their grade 12 year! Students must be enrolling for post-secondary education. This year, 60 scholarships of $500 will be awarded. RE/MAX of Western Canada “Quest for Excellence” Bursary

RE/MAX is offering sixteen $1000 bursaries to Grade 12 students in Western Canada. Students are to submit an online essay (max. 1,250 words) which conveys personal motivation, leadership and communication skills in connection with their community efforts: have you led a group of volunteers, raised funds for a worthwhile cause, helped special needs children or cared for seniors? Global Youth Institute (Gr 8 – 11)

Two students, currently in Grade 8 to 11, and their teachers or mentors have the opportunity to receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Des Moines, Iowa to represent Saskatchewan at the Global Youth Institute from October 17th – 19th , 2019. Students will explore pressing food security and agricultural issues with international experts, tour innovative industrial and research facilities, and explore exciting ways to make a difference in their community and around the world. Selected students will be required to research a global challenge and write a five-page essay under the supervision of their teacher or mentor. The application deadline is Monday, April 15th. Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Scholarship

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Scholarship ($1000) is awarded to a Grade 12 student who will be attending a post-secondary institution in the fall. Four student qualities will be considered: school and/or community-based leadership, responsibilities outside of school, financial support needed and academic performance. École St. Mary High School can nominate one candidate and nomination is competitive. Please provide a list of school/community-based leadership, responsibilities outside of school, and a statement about financial need to Mrs. Rapin in Student Services by Tuesday, February 26, 2019 to be considered for nomination.

Princess of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall Scholarships

Canadian Parents for French – PA Chapter Scholarships

Canadian Parents for French is offering 4 scholarships for French Immersion students, one per grade level. The Grade 9 to Grade 11 scholarships are $100 and the Grade 12 is $300.Students who are  interested in applying for these scholarships can contact the main office or Mr. Joncas in Rm 238.  The deadline for applications is on May 3, 2019.

Beaverbrook Vimy Prize

The Beaverbrook Vimy Prize, is a prestigious two-week-long learning experience during which exceptional youth, 15-17 years of age, study the interwoven First and Second World War history of Canada, Great Britain, and France. Scheduled for August 2019 in Belgium and France, students will attend lectures, visit former battlefields, trenches and underground tunnels, as well as visit museums and cemeteries, and explore monuments such as the Canadian National Vimy Memorial.  Canadian, British, and French prize recipients will also participate in commemorative ceremonies and meet a few of the remaining veterans and members of the French Resistance. Applicants are required to submit the following: 1) an essay in response to a specific question, 2) a reflection piece based on artwork in the Beaverbrook Collection of War Art, 3) a personal statement video, 4) a resume and 5) a reference letter.
