U of S: Best & Brightest and Circle of Honour Awards

High-achieving students are encouraged to apply for Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships, the highest-valued, renewable scholarships worth up to $40,000, which are awarded to recognize academic excellence and community engagement. Included in these awards are five that are specifically designated for Aboriginal students, known as the Circle of Honour Awards. To be considered, students must apply for admission by December 1, 2017 and submit their scholarship application through their PAWS account by December 15, 2017. Information about calculating an admission average, and required subjects by program are available on the U of S website.

 

Early Admission to the U of S

December 1st, 2017 is the deadline to apply for Early Admission to U of S for programs in Edwards School of Business, Engineering, Education, Kinesiology and Bachelor of Science in Animal Biosciences. By December 1, 2017 applicants must submit the online application for admission and application fee, an up-to-date transcript, and proof of English proficiency, if required. Within 2-3 business days after applying for admission, each applicant will receive a Network Services ID (NSID) and password to access PAWS, the web portal of the uSask, where the student can check the status of the applications and also apply for awards. The deadline to apply for Regular Admission to U of S is February 15th, 2018. Information about calculation of the admission averages, and the required subjects by program are available on the U of S website.

 

Sask Polytech INSIGHT

INSIGHT events provide an opportunity for prospective students to experience a Sask Polytech program first hand. These half-day events on Wednesday, November 16th will provide insight into a specific program, student life, campus atmosphere, admission requirements, and the application process. Registration is now open at saskpolytech.ca/INSIGHT Check out the participating programs and times at each campus city: Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina and Saskatoon.

 

University of Alberta

October 11th, 2017

The University of Alberta will be visiting St. Mary High School to present information about programs, campus life, and admissions requirements. Any interested students may attend on Friday, October 13th, 2017 from 12:20 p.m. – 1:20 p.m. in the Chapel by the main office. For additional information, contact Mrs. Rapin in Student Services.

 

Rotary: Adventures in Agriculture

This Rotary International Program for Senior High School Students will be hosted in Regina from November 22nd – November 26th, 2017. It provides students with an opportunity to visit Agribition (including the rodeo), tour major agriculture based industries, participate in networking and information sessions conducted by agriculture industry professionals and business leaders, participate in an in-depth forum discussion on the subject “Are present Agricultural practices environmentally sustainable?”, and be hosted at luncheons and dinners sponsored by industry partners. A sponsoring Rotary Club will select participating students based upon a school’s recommendation. Students entering Grades 11 and 12 who want to learn more about the agriculture industry and its career opportunities are encouraged to apply. Opening Doors to Tomorrow Career Fair

The career fair is being held at the Armoury and Exhibition Grounds on Wednesday, October 25th.  All Grade 9 students will be expected to attend. For Grade 10 -12 students, there will be a sign-up sheet on the glass wall in front of the guidance offices.  We encourage students to attend.

TD Scholarship for Community Leadership

TD Scholarships are awarded to students across Canada who have shown exceptional initiative in making a meaningful and lasting difference in their community. Each scholarship includes four years of tuition at any approved university or college in Canada and opportunities for summer employment at TD. The deadline to apply is November 17th, 2017. Loran Award

The Loran Award seeks to recognize well-rounded students who demonstrate character, promise of leadership, and strong commitment and service in the community. Up to 32 Loran Awards are available, valued at $100,000 over four years. The application deadline is October 18th, 2017 for sponsored applications and October 25th, 2017 for direct-pool applications. St. Mary High School can sponsor up to three candidates and sponsorship is competitive. Please provide a list of school/community involvement and leadership activities to Mrs.Rapin in Student Services by Monday, October 2, 2017 if you would like to be considered for sponsorship.
