U of R Fall Open House: October 13th

U of R FALL OPEN HOUSE

The U of R is hosting a Fall Open House on Friday, October 13th from 9:00 am – 5:30 pm. at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport, University of Regina Main Campus, 3737 Wascana Parkway. As part of Fall Open House, students can apply to the University of Regina for a reduced application fee and be admitted on the spot. Admission on the Spot Option One: Apply online from October 2nd – October 10th for $50 and pick up your application decision during Fall Open House. Be sure to select “Open House Application” (or “Open House Application for Ed” for Education applicants) as the Application Type from the drop-down menu. Students can also upload a current high school transcript and class schedule to the online application. Admission on the Spot Option Two: Apply in person during Fall Open House on October 13th for $50 and receive an application decision on the spot. Bring a current high school transcript and class schedule to the event. Admission on the Spot Eligibility: All current Grade 12 students are eligible to apply for admission to all U of R programs during Admission on the Spot, except for those applying to le Baccalauréat en éducation, the Indigenous Education program, Music Education, or the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, as these programs have additional admission requirements. U of S Open House: September 22nd

Students are invited to attend the U of S Open House on Friday, September 22nd. For information about the day, view the video at USask Open House – Friday, September 22. To attend, register online at admissions.usask.ca The U of S will also be offering a series of events throughout the year which will be listed on the Event webpage. The events include bookable one-on-one virtual chats, admissions and programs presentations, application workshops, and access to express application processing.

Saskatchewan Health Authority Volunteers

Victoria HospitalHerb Bassett Home, and Pineview Terrace invite Grades 9 to 12 students to join the Youth-In-Action Volunteer Program (visit, play cards/games, read, paint nails, play music/sing etc.). Students must apply online at www.saskhealthauthority.ca and then click on Careers & Volunteering. Volunteer applications must be completed by Friday, September 29th and interviews will be conducted after school with all new applicants during the week of Monday, October 2, 2023 to Friday, October 6, 2023. An orientation session for new volunteers will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023. All volunteers must attend. Junior Achievement Career Fair for Trades

On Thursday, May 11th, Sask Polytechnic will be hosting a hands-on career fair for grade 10/11/12 students who are interested in the areas of Carpentry, Welding, and Industrial Mechanics. Students will depart École St. Mary High School at 9:30 am and will return to the school around 3:00 pm. Transportation and lunch will be provided. There are approximately 20 spots available. The deadline to sign up is Friday, April 21. Youth Job Finding Club: Age 16 – 19

The Prince Albert Community Service Centre (101-15th Street West) is offering three workshops from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on the following dates: February 28th – March 2nd, March 7th – March 9th and March 21st – March 23rd. Participants will prepare resumes, practice interview skills and learn about the hidden job market. RCMP Depot Youth Camp

The Depot Youth Camp is a week-long summer camp (July 17-21, 2023 and July 24-28, 2023) for students in Grades 11 and 12 (ages 16-19). The deadline to apply is Wednesday, March 1st. Student selection will be based on academic achievement, fitness and interest in a career in policing. While at camp, students will be issued parts of the RCMP uniform to wear and will be expected to act as a troop in training. The two camps will involve participation and observation of activities such as: drill, driver simulator training, firearms, police officer scenarios, fitness training, troop graduation, and a tour of the RCMP Heritage Centre. Women (16+) in Trades: Industrial Mechanic/Welding

The weekend workshop is February 4 & February 5th from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. at SaskPoly PA Campus. The content includes a) Industrial Mechanics (Millwright) where students will work with hand tools, some power tools and metal to manufacture their own take home project, and b) Welding where students will learn to assemble, tack and weld steel, use assorted shaping methods, as well as use cleaning, finishing and cutting tools. Women (16+) in Trades: Creative Welding

The weekend workshop is May 6 & May 7, 2023 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at SaskPoly PA Campus. Students will learn to assemble, tack, and weld steel, use assorted shaping methods, as well as gain experience in using, cleaning, finishing, and cutting tools. while creating individual projects of “garden decor” patterns. This event is open to pairs of women who are over the age of 16. (Participants will need to register individually, but will work with their partner.) Class size will be capped at 12 (six pairs) so register early! To register, phone 306-765-1600. The course name is Creative Welding CEXP-1408 CRN – 202212-1853 and the cost is $150. U of S College of Education Information Sessions

Students who are interested in enrolling in one of the U of S  Bachelor of Education programs for fall 2023 are encouraged to register for an online information session for prospective students and their parents on Wednesday, January 18th from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Representatives from the College of Education will share a brief presentation about Bachelor of Education program routes, admission requirements and application deadlines, testimonial from a current College of Education student and testimonial from a College of Education alumnus. A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation.
