SMHS/PAGC Career Fair

Canadian Parents for French – Bénévoles recherchés!

Nous recherchons des bénévoles pour le mini-rendez-vous qui aura lieu le samedi 13 avril prochain de 9 h à 3 h à l’École Vickers School. Le travail consiste de s’occuper d’ateliers pour les enfants (arts, cuisine et éducation physique). Grad 2019 Awards

Students who are interested in applying for awards that will be presented at Grad 2019 must submit a Grad 2019 Awards Application Checklist Cover Page and a Grad 2019 Awards Application. These forms, as well as application forms for the General Proficiency, Royal Canadian Legion Award, and The Sisters of Our Ladies of the Cross Scholarship are available at http://bit.ly/SMHSGradAwards An awards package containing the description of the awards is available at the library. The checklist cover page, awards application, and other required documents, such as reference letters (not a relative, contact information etc.) must be submitted to the library no later than Tuesday, May 14th at 3:30 p.m.

Junior Citizen of the Year Scholarship ($3000)

The Junior Citizen of the Year Scholarship has honoured the youth of Saskatchewan for over 40 years. The program is sponsored by The Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association, in partnership with SaskPower, and the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.  These prestigious awards are given to kids who: have a positive lifestyle, are dedicated to community and school, have a strong sense of caring and responsibility, have the ability to overcome life’s challenges, inspire others, and are between ages 8 to 18.  Four award recipients are chosen each year and receive a $3,000 bursary provided by SaskPower, to be used for their post-secondary education. For more information, please go to www.swna.com The call for nominations is now open. The deadline for nominations is March 31st, 2019.

U of S Academic Advisor at Ecole St Mary High School

Grade 12 students who have registered to attend the U of S this fall will have the opportunity to meet with a U of S Academic Advisor on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. She will be here from 9:00 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. The advisor will help students with course selection and any other questions they may have about registering for classes. Students must sign up to meet with the advisor. Please see Mrs. Rapin in Student Services if you are interested in booking an appointment.

National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) Scholarships

This $1,500 scholarship is open to Grade 12 students who are planning to attend a post-secondary educational institution full-time in 2019 – 2020 and who are the children, grandchildren, or foster children of a NUPGE member. Go to https://nupge.ca/content/national-unions-scholarship-program-2019 for information and application forms. Affinity Credit Union: Elwood Harvey Co-operative Leadership (Gr 11)

Grade 11 students who are a member of Affinity Credit Union or have a parent or guardian who is a member are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Each student receives a $2500 award upon completion of the leadership program. Twenty-six students are accepted into the program. This award is offered by our District Councils, who have been elected to represent their communities within the Credit Union. The program gives recipients the opportunity to participate in their local District Council meetings and a variety of other events during their grade 12 year! Affinity Credit Union: Build a Better World (Gr 12)

Grade 12 students who are a member of Affinity Credit Union or have a parent or guardian who is a member are eligible to apply for this scholarship. RE/MAX of Western Canada “Quest for Excellence” Bursary

RE/MAX is offering sixteen $1000 bursaries to Grade 12 students in Western Canada. Students are to submit an online essay (max. 1,250 words) which conveys personal motivation, leadership and communication skills in connection with their community efforts: have you led a group of volunteers, raised funds for a worthwhile cause, helped special needs children or cared for seniors? Global Youth Institute (Gr 8 – 11)

Two students, currently in Grade 8 to 11, and their teachers or mentors have the opportunity to receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Des Moines, Iowa to represent Saskatchewan at the Global Youth Institute from October 17th – 19th , 2019. Students will explore pressing food security and agricultural issues with international experts, tour innovative industrial and research facilities, and explore exciting ways to make a difference in their community and around the world. Selected students will be required to research a global challenge and write a five-page essay under the supervision of their teacher or mentor. The application deadline is Monday, April 15th.
