March 4th, 2021SIA AGROLOGY AWARD: $1,000
March 2nd, 2021The Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists (SIA) offers six $1,000 scholarships for Grade 12 high school students entering a post-secondary program related to agrology. Agrology is the application of science to agriculture, bioresources, food and the environment by professionals. The profession of agrology addresses many of today’s critical issues in production agriculture, food safety and environmental quality. Conexus Youth Leadership Award: $1,500
March 2nd, 2021The Conexus Youth Leadership Award recognizes graduating high school students who show leadership in everything they do and are guided by the cooperative principles. Conexus will award ten grade 12 students across Saskatchewan with $1,500 and recognize them through our social media channels. The application deadline is April 16, 2021. Paddy O’Rourke Poetry Scholarship
February 9th, 2021The Paddy O’Rourke Poetry Scholarship will be awarded to a Saskatchewan student currently attending Grade 12 (or who graduated from a Saskatchewan high school in the past 24 months). Stacey Levitt Memorial Award: $2,500
February 8th, 2021STACEY LEVITT MEMORIAL AWARD: $2,500
The Stacey Levitt Memorial Award was created in memory and celebration of Stacey’s life by her family through Parachute. This award encourages Canadian youth to embody Stacey’s qualities and ideals and Parachute’s overarching goals of a long life lived to the fullest, understanding the importance of risk management and injury prevention. The Levitt family awards each year’s selected recipient $2,500 to help them live their life to the fullest. The award could be put toward an educational endeavor, engagement in sports and investment in a travel experience. These pursuits would have resonated with Stacey, who loved school, sports and travel. The deadline to apply is February 27th, 2021. January 19th, 2021The Terry Fox Humanitarian Award ($28,000 dispersed over four years) is open to students of all abilities who are pursuing a degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution. Recipients are selected for their dedication to the humanitarian ideals of Terry Fox to improve human welfare, make a difference, and have a positive impact on community and others, their courage in overcoming obstacles (physical, financial, etc.), and definite marks of distinction and persistence in the pursuit of excellence in academic, athletic, and civic life. Junior Citizen of the Year: Nominations
January 19th, 2021The Junior Citizen of the Year award has honoured the youth of Saskatchewan for over 40 years. The program is sponsored by The Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association, in partnership with SaskPower, and the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. These prestigious awards are given to students who:
- Have a positive lifestyle
- Are dedicated to community and school
- Have a strong sense of caring and responsibility
- Have the ability to overcome life’s challenges
- Inspire others
- Are between ages 8 to 18
Four award recipients are chosen each year and receive a $3,000 bursary, provided by SaskPower, to be used for post-secondary education. For more information, please go to https://swna.com/junior-citizen-of-the-year/. The deadline for nominations is March 31st, 2021.
Prince Albert & District Community Scholarships
January 19th, 2021Grade 12 students are encouraged to apply for the Tillie and Joe Kawula Scholarship and the Hershel Davidner Memorial Scholarship. The two $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded to students who value academics, community involvement, and volunteerism and are entering a recognized university or technical institute. One application will apply to both awards. These scholarships are open to Grade 12 graduates from Saskatchewan Rivers School Division, Prince Albert Catholic School Division and the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Prince Albert campus Academic Grade 12 program. Alex Prytula Award: $2,000
January 6th, 2021During the Commencement Ceremony of Grad 2021, a male and a female student will be presented with the Alex Prytula Award which is valued at $2,000. The criteria for the award is as follows: outstanding contributions, financial need, and academics. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, March 16th.
