Class of 2020 Grad Photo Appointments

Grad photos will be taken Monday, March 9th – Thursday, March 12th. While students are not required to purchase grad photos, the cap and gown photo is needed for the yearbook and large photo composite that will be placed in the school. Students are also invited to have photos taken in sport uniforms or with accessories such as band instruments. Students are encouraged to contact Mrs. Kopchynski for an information brochure or if they require assistance or access to a computer.

Students are to book their own photo appointment by following the steps below:

1) Visit  https://prestigeportraits.ca 

2) If this is your first time scheduling an appointment, see “No Code?/Locate your school” and select the province & city.

3) Select your individual school.

4) Click on – “Schedule Now” and create an account:

Step 1 – Select your school

Step 2 – Enter your legal name (listed the way the school has it recorded).

Step 2 – Click – “Schedule your appointment”
Step 3 – Enter your email address . Add another email address if you want (ie: parent’s email)

Step 4 – Include your mobile phone number to receive reminders (optional)
Step 5 – Pay for Grad proofs in advance, if purchasing proofs. (This makes check-in easier at your grad photo session.)

Step 6 – Retain your Appointment Code in the event changes are required. (The Appointment Code will be emailed.)

Step 7 – A confirmation notice and information will be sent to your email address.

** Prepare for the photo session by reviewing the information that is emailed to you.

** If you have questions, or your name does not appear, please contact the Saskatoon office at 306-956-3040.

Class of 2020 Scholarship Databases

February to June is the peak scholarship period for grade 12 students. Students are encouraged to visit the links under the “Scholarships” tab on the SMHS Career website.

U of S Residence Applications Now Open

Applications to live in the University of Saskatchewan (USask) Residences for Fall 2020 are now open. Students should apply to live in Residence as early as possible. Applications are considered on a first come, first served basis, regardless of students’ admission status.
First year students
Students entering their first year of studies at USask will receive guaranteed placement at Voyageur Place Residence if they apply for Residence before January 31, 2020.
How to apply for Residence
1) Log into PAWS using your NSID and password that you receive when you apply for admission.
2) Type Residence into the PAWS search bar. The Residence PAWS channel will appear.
3) Create a Residence account. Once your account is complete, you will be redirected to the Residence Housing Portal to compete your application.

Lives That Make a Difference Essay Contest

Students in Grade 5- Grade 12 may enter the contest by writing an essay (300 words or less) based on someone they think made the biggest impact (positive or negative) on Canadian society in 2018. Prizes are awarded in two grade levels: Grade 5-8 and Grade 9-12. Two winners will be selected in each level: Grand Prize is $3,000 for the student and $1000 for the Department/Classroom of the teacher. First Prize is $2,000 for the student and $1000 for the Department/Classroom of the teacher. The deadline to enter is December 31st, 2019. U of R Open House

Saskatchewan Universities & Technical Institutes (SUTL)

Wednesday, October 16th, 2019

SUTL will be at École St. Mary High School on Thursday, October 24, 2019 to present to all grade 12 students in period 3. The hour-long presentation includes admissions information from U of S, and U of R, Sask Polytechnic, Sask Apprenticeship, and Lakeland College. SUTL will also have information booths set up in the Common over the lunch hour to meet with students individually.

Official Languages Programs

Explore Youth Initiative (13-15 years old), Explore (16 years and older) and Destination Clic,offer youth the opportunity to travel and learn French. U of S Scholarships & Awards

Students entering the U of S are eligible for numerous scholarships and awards. Students can see Mrs. Rapin in Student Services if they have any questions.

1)     Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships – Students will be considered for a Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship when they apply for admissions. These scholarships recognize academic achievements and are awarded based on the calculated admission average.

2)     Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships – (Apply for admissions by Dec 1 & Apply for awards by Dec 15) These include USask’s highest valued, renewable entrance scholarships and are awarded based on academics, leadership and contributions to school and community life. These scholarships require the submission of a separate awards application after students apply for admissions.

3)     Competitive Entrance Awards – (Apply for admissions by Feb 15 & Apply for awards by March 1) These include numerous scholarships and bursaries that can be accessed by many students with diverse experiences. Applicants can be considered based on academic achievement, financial need and/or contributions to school and community life. All entering students are encouraged to apply.

U of S Early Admissions

Students applying to earn a Bachelor of EducationBachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience are encouraged to apply by December 1st, 2019 for early admission for the 2020 Fall Term in September. Students must submit transcripts and supporting documents by December 1 for early admission.

ScholarTree Scholarships
