SUTL will be at École St. Mary High School on Thursday, October 24, 2019 to present to all grade 12 students in period 3. The hour-long presentation includes admissions information from U of S, and U of R, Sask Polytechnic, Sask Apprenticeship, and Lakeland College. SUTL will also have information booths set up in the Common over the lunch hour to meet with students individually.

Explore Youth Initiative (13-15 years old), Explore (16 years and older) and Destination Clic,offer youth the opportunity to travel and learn French. The deadlines to apply are February 15, 2020 (Explore) and March 31, 2020 (Destination Clic). Information brochures are available on the websites https://www.myexplore.ca/en/ and https://www.destinationclic.ca/fr/

Students entering the U of S are eligible for numerous scholarships and awards. Students can see Mrs. Rapin in Student Services if they have any questions.

1)     Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships – Students will be considered for a Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship when they apply for admissions. These scholarships recognize academic achievements and are awarded based on the calculated admission average.

2)     Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships – (Apply for admissions by Dec 1 & Apply for awards by Dec 15) These include USask’s highest valued, renewable entrance scholarships and are awarded based on academics, leadership and contributions to school and community life. These scholarships require the submission of a separate awards application after students apply for admissions.

3)     Competitive Entrance Awards – (Apply for admissions by Feb 15 & Apply for awards by March 1) These include numerous scholarships and bursaries that can be accessed by many students with diverse experiences. Applicants can be considered based on academic achievement, financial need and/or contributions to school and community life. All entering students are encouraged to apply.

Students applying to earn a Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience are encouraged to apply by December 1^st, 2019 for early admission for the 2020 Fall Term in September. Students must submit transcripts and supporting documents by December 1 for early admission.

“The recipient of this award displays the words and actions of the following criteria: is welcoming and inclusive, is non-judgmental, and is respectful of self, other students, and staff.” A nomination form is available at the library or at http://bit.ly/SMHSGradAwards on the school’s career website. Nomination forms are due at the library office by Friday, May 31st at 3:30 p.m. Students will vote in class Monday, June 3rd – Friday, June 7th.

A male and a female student will be presented with a $2,000 award at Grad 2019. The criteria for the award is as follows: outstanding contributions, financial need, and academics. The deadline to apply is Thursday, April 4^th at 12:45 p.m. Application forms are available online on the career website http://bit.ly/SMHSGradAwards and must be submitted at the library. Please note that a high-resolution digital photo (2-4 megabyte JPG, not PNG), of the applicant doing an activity this year must be submitted on a USB. (Do not copy the JPG onto a word document, use a JPG sent in a text message, or use a JPG sent in an email with other photos as these scenarios compress the size of the JPG.) As well, proof of acceptance (letter, email) into a post-secondary program must also be submitted with the completed application form.

On Friday, April 5^th, École St Mary High School will host the SMHS/PAGC Career Fair. Students are encouraged to bring a resume since Lakeland Coop will be accepting applications for potential summer employment opportunities.
