Seven $1000 High School Scholarships will be awarded to Diamond North Credit Union members who are graduating high school, are enrolled/enrolling in post-secondary education, and who encompass a well-rounded character (leadership, community involvement, extra-curricular activity, and academic achievement). The deadline to apply is Monday, May 1st. CBC’s The First Page: Student Writing Contest

The contest involves writing the first page (300 – 400 words) of a novel set 150 years in the future, with the protagonist facing an issue that’s topical today and setting the scene for how it’s all playing out in a century and a half. This contest has two categories: Grades 7 to 9 and Grades 10 to 12. Each winner will receive a one-year subscription to OwlCrate (delivery of a monthly box with a book and book-related goodies) and the school will receive 50 free books. All shortlisted entries will be published on CBCBooks.ca. The deadline to enter is February 28, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Diverse Minds Creative Writing Competition

The Diverse Minds Creative Writing Competition involves writing and illustrating a children’s book about diversity and inclusion that is geared to children between the ages of five to ten. The book can be written in either of the two official languages (English or French) or it can be written as a bilingual book. Students can work on their own or in pairs – where one student is illustrating and one writing. The competition is open to all high-school students across Canada, and is a wonderful opportunity for high school students to become a published author and win up to $5,000! Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners, as well as a bonus of $250 for the teachers of the finalists!!  Students can submit their books until April 16, 2023. For additional information and tips about the contest, go to  https://www.bnaibrith.ca/diverseminds/ As well, a video that explains how to enter the competition is available at Diverse Minds – Enter Video 2023 – YouTube  

 

RCMP Depot Youth Camp

The Depot Youth Camp is a week-long summer camp (July 17-21, 2023 and July 24-28, 2023) for students in Grades 11 and 12 (ages 16-19). The deadline to apply is Wednesday, March 1st. Student selection will be based on academic achievement, fitness and interest in a career in policing. While at camp, students will be issued parts of the RCMP uniform to wear and will be expected to act as a troop in training. The two camps will involve participation and observation of activities such as: drill, driver simulator training, firearms, police officer scenarios, fitness training, troop graduation, and a tour of the RCMP Heritage Centre. Kin Canada Bursary ($1000)

This bursary is open to any student who is in the process of graduating from high school or currently studying or registered at a post-secondary institution. Applicants will be evaluated on their community and school involvement, knowledge of Kin Canada and financial need. The application form must be submitted by February 1st, 2023 and winners will be notified before June 30 by their sponsoring club. 2023 Amazon Canada: Youth Short Story

The Youth Short Story Category invites authors between the ages of thirteen and seventeen to submit a short story under 3,000 words. The winner in this category will receive $5,000 and the five finalists will each receive $500. IBAS Young Community Leader Bursary

The Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan (IBAS) is offering the 2023 ‘IBAS Young Community Leader Bursary’ for grade 12 students entering post-secondary education. It is a one-time cash bursary amount of $5,000 to be given to the successful applicant. The Scotiabank scholarships for students age 16 – age 18 focus on four themes (Diversity, Financial Wellness, Women Future Leaders) and four regions of Canada.
