U of S Academic Advisor

Grade 12 students who have registered to attend the U of S this fall will have the opportunity to meet with a U of S Academic Advisor on Monday, May 28th. He will be at SMHS from 9:00 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. The advisor will assist with course selection and answer questions. To meet with the advisor, students must sign up with Mrs. McLeod in Student Services before Wednesday, May 23rd.

U of S Medicine Presentation

First-Year Medicine Students will be presenting at SMHS in the Chapel on Wednesday, May 23rd during Period 4. Grade 11 and Grade 12 students are invited to attend to get a personal account about being in medical school and what they can do to work towards being accepted. A pink “Out-Of-Class” form may be picked up at Student Services.

Lethbridge College: School of Justice Studies

Any Grade 11 or Grade 12 student who is interested in learning more about the School of Justice Studies (Policing and Corrections) is invited to attend a presentation on Wednesday, May 16th during Period 3. A pink “Out-Of-Class” form may be picked up at Student Services.

Grade 12 Awards Meeting

All Grade 12 students are advised to attend an awards meeting on Wednesday, February 15th at 11:50 a.m. in the Lecture Theatre.

U of S On Campus Day

U of S On Campus Day is on February 29th for any students interested in taking a tour of the campus and meeting current U of S students, faculty, and staff. On Campus Day provides prospective students with first-hand experience of what is like to be a U of S student. The deadline to register is February 24th. Architecture Presentation

Forum for Young Canadians

Forum for Young Canadians is Canada’s premier civics education program for students aged 15 – 19 years old. Forum brings students to Ottawa for a week of intensive academic adventure immersing them in the exciting world of national politics and public affairs. If you are interested in joining hundreds of other high school students for a week stay in Ottawa on Parliament Hill, please see Mrs. McLeod for more information or for an application form. Sask Youth Apprenticeship Meeting

A Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 15th at 12:20 p.m. in the Community Room. Students will meet with Tracy McLurg from Saskatchewan Apprenticeship who will help them complete their passports. Students must bring a pencil/pen and paper to record infromation. Lunch will be provided

U of S Admission Workshop

The U of S will be presenting an admissions workshop for students on Thursday, November 17th during Period 5 in Rm 229. A recruitment officer from the U of S will demonstrate how to apply online for admission, as well as answer questions about U of S programs and services, awards, scholarships and bursaries. (For example, if you apply for admission, pay the $90 application fee and report your marks by February 15th, it will maximize your award potential. The deadline for Competitive Entrance Awards is February 15th, 2012.)

To attend, students must get permission from their Period 5 teacher and complete a pink “Out of Class” permission slip available at Student Services.
