The Loran Foundation seeks to recognize students that demonstrate character, leadership, commitment and service to the community. There are 30 Loran Awards available across Canada at up to $100,000. The application deadline is Wednesday October 21, 2015. The Junior Citizen of the Year award has honoured the youth of Saskatchewan for the past 38 years. The program is sponsored by The Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association, in partnership with SaskPower, and the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. Four award recipients are chosen each year and receive a $3,000 bursary to be used for their post-secondary education. These prestigious awards are given to kids who: Have a positive lifestyle, Are dedicated to community and school, Have a strong sense of caring and responsibility, Have the ability to overcome life’s challenges, Inspire others, Are between ages 8 to 18. These two scholarships are open to Grade 12 students. Academic standing is a factor, however community involvement and volunteerism will carry the largest influence in determining recipients. The Prince Albert Chapter Scholarship will be awarded annually in the amount of $500. All applications must be received by the Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan (Prince Albert Chapter) before August 1 of the calendar year. This scholarship recognizes High School students who demonstrate outstanding creativity and community involvement. It was created to assist students in their endeavor to enter a career in the Salon or Spa Industry. The scholarship is valued at $1000.00 and may be applied to either full-time Hairstyling or full-time Esthetics programs at MC College. Application deadline is June 30^th, 2015. Students who have a final admission average of 90% or higher and are planning to enter the U of A in Sept. 2015, are guaranteed to receive $1,000 or more. Please go to admissions.ualberta.ca and click on ‘Money Matters’.

This scholarship is open to grade 12 students who are planning on attending a post-secondary education institution full-time in 2015 – 2016 and who are the children, grandchildren or foster children of a NUPGE member. Please see a counselor in Student Services or go to www.nupge.ca/scholarships for information and application forms for The Tommy Douglas Scholarship, The Terry Fox Memorial Scholarship, The Scholarship for Aboriginal Canadians, and The Scholarship for Visible minorities. The deadline to apply is July 6^th, 2015.

Students are encouraged to pick up an awards package at the office.
