Build a Better World Scholarship

Grade 12 students who are a member of Affinity Credit Union or have a parent or guardian who is a member are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Students must be enrolling for post-secondary education. This year, 30 scholarships of $1000 will be awarded. Elwood Harvey Co-operative Leadership Award

Grade 11 students who are a member of Affinity Credit Union or have a parent or guardian who is a member are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Each student receives a $2500 award upon completion of the leadership program. Twenty students are accepted into the program. This award is offered by our District Councils, who have been elected to represent their communities within the Credit Union. The program gives recipients the opportunity to participate in their local District Council meetings and a variety of other events during their grade 12 year! Youth Job Finding Club: Age 16 – 19

The Prince Albert Community Service Centre (101-15th Street West) is offering three workshops from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on the following dates: February 28th – March 2nd, March 7th – March 9th and March 21st – March 23rd. Participants will prepare resumes, practice interview skills and learn about the hidden job market. Diamond North Credit Union Scholarships

Seven $1000 High School Scholarships will be awarded to Diamond North Credit Union members who are graduating high school, are enrolled/enrolling in post-secondary education, and who encompass a well-rounded character (leadership, community involvement, extra-curricular activity, and academic achievement). The deadline to apply is Monday, May 1st. CBC’s The First Page: Student Writing Contest

The contest involves writing the first page (300 – 400 words) of a novel set 150 years in the future, with the protagonist facing an issue that’s topical today and setting the scene for how it’s all playing out in a century and a half. This contest has two categories: Grades 7 to 9 and Grades 10 to 12. Each winner will receive a one-year subscription to OwlCrate (delivery of a monthly box with a book and book-related goodies) and the school will receive 50 free books. All shortlisted entries will be published on CBCBooks.ca. The deadline to enter is February 28, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Diverse Minds Creative Writing Competition

The Diverse Minds Creative Writing Competition involves writing and illustrating a children’s book about diversity and inclusion that is geared to children between the ages of five to ten. The book can be written in either of the two official languages (English or French) or it can be written as a bilingual book. Students can work on their own or in pairs – where one student is illustrating and one writing. The competition is open to all high-school students across Canada, and is a wonderful opportunity for high school students to become a published author and win up to $5,000! Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners, as well as a bonus of $250 for the teachers of the finalists!!  Students can submit their books until April 16, 2023. For additional information and tips about the contest, go to  https://www.bnaibrith.ca/diverseminds/ As well, a video that explains how to enter the competition is available at Diverse Minds – Enter Video 2023 – YouTube  

RCMP Depot Youth Camp

The Depot Youth Camp is a week-long summer camp (July 17-21, 2023 and July 24-28, 2023) for students in Grades 11 and 12 (ages 16-19). The deadline to apply is Wednesday, March 1st. Student selection will be based on academic achievement, fitness and interest in a career in policing. While at camp, students will be issued parts of the RCMP uniform to wear and will be expected to act as a troop in training. The two camps will involve participation and observation of activities such as: drill, driver simulator training, firearms, police officer scenarios, fitness training, troop graduation, and a tour of the RCMP Heritage Centre. Kin Canada Bursary ($1000)

This bursary is open to any student who is in the process of graduating from high school or currently studying or registered at a post-secondary institution. Applicants will be evaluated on their community and school involvement, knowledge of Kin Canada and financial need. The application form must be submitted by February 1st, 2023 and winners will be notified before June 30 by their sponsoring club. 2023 Amazon Canada: Youth Short Story

The Youth Short Story Category invites authors between the ages of thirteen and seventeen to submit a short story under 3,000 words. The winner in this category will receive $5,000 and the five finalists will each receive $500.
